Nopal

The cactus Nopal Verde (opuntia-indica) or green Nopal has been linked to many health benefits. These include blood circulation, heart and digestive disorders. Some recent work are shown below.

Reducing chlosterol levels

Research has shown that the amino acids in Nopal are able to lower total cholesterol levels by breaking down fats and fatty acids. Nopal is also able to remove excess bile acids, this is significant because excess amounts of bile acids are converted to cholesterol.

Reducing high blood sugar - Hyperglycemia

Research has clearly demonstrated that 4 to 6 hours after eating Nopal, there is a significant hyperglycemic effect in type II and non-diabetics.
